The Good Samaritan

“The more I think it over, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” Vincent van Gogh

good-samaritanThe new year has started. It is a gift to stand at the open door of another year of our Lord. Let us fill this new year with art - the kind of art that Vincent van Gogh spoke about - the art of loving people. Vincent Van Gogh painted a beautiful image of the story of the Good Samaritan, a story about a man who stopped to help an injured, beaten and robbed traveler on the side of the road, after others had passed him by without stopping to help. It is a poignant and inspiring story about what it means to love your neighbor. May we all aspire to be more artistic this year and weave our lives into a beautiful mosaic composed of colorful shapes of loving others.
