Article: An Amani Valentine

An Amani Valentine

An Amani Valentine

This Valentine's Day, we asked some of the women of Amani to reflect on the idea of love. Their thoughts were so rich! We are so happy to be able to share some of them with you, and we wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day!

What does love mean to you?

Love is embracing someone and accepting them wholeheartedly just the way they are. Love is also generous and it does not rejoice in the downfall of others, instead it is the drive in helping and encouraging  them to get back up.

Loving someone genuinely with all their faults  is a choice. Love is respectful and should always be genuine

~Anna

What do you love most about the work you do at Amani?

I am to contribute to nation building when our customers buy our products, and through this work I am also able to get an income and meet my needs.

I have learnt that love is a gift and is truly caring. People at Amani always greet each other with a smile and whenever you don’t show up to work, people will call to check up on you and find out if you are okay.

~Eunice

How do you show love to your colleagues?

To my colleagues I gift them during their birthdays and visit them in their houses whenever they are unwell and celebrate their achievements or welcoming their new babies. We also share meals together with those who don’t have one during lunch hour.

~Mercy

What do you love most about the work you do at Amani?

I love how my colleagues show me love through caring about my feelings and helping me learn new things and keep growing in my work.

Through my work here at Amani I have acquired social skills and learnt how to interact with different people.

Share a lesson about love you’ve learned from your colleagues at Amani?

When you love yourself you are also able to love others without struggling.

In this world where you can be anything, always remember to be kind to anyone you interact with as you have no idea what they may be going through.

~Irene

Share a lesson about love you’ve learned from your colleagues at Amani?

At Amani people stand with you when you are going through a difficult time, they give you moral support and help you however they can whenever you are in need.

~Gloria
