Amani Chattanooga
Established in mid 2012, Amani Chattanooga was born out of the expanding presence of Amani in the United States, along with the desire to extend God’s peace in a new place. Up to this time the US Warehouse had been housed at the Amani DC Center. In 2011 it became apparent that a new space was needed to better serve as a distribution center. Just as the need developed, so did the provision to meet it. Joanna Vaughn along with her husband found a facility that could house the US warehouse where Amani US now calls home.
Chattanooga is the hometown of founder, Becky Chinchen. Many in the city of Chattanooga have walked with Amani since her inception; supporting the work of sharing God’s peace by hosting sales, sending short-term teams to the Africa centers, and investing in Amani through donations. With Amani’s move to Chattanooga, Amani has come home to a community that has nurtured her since her beginnings.
Joanna and Pete Vaughn team-lead the Chattanooga center and are energized by working with staff and volunteers who are passionate and committed to the values and mission of Amani. Amani Chattanooga houses the Amani US Warehouse and is specifically dedicated to coordinating Amani’s Ambassador Sale Program and managing Amani’s Online Shop. Unprecedented growth has transpired due to the hard work and planning of the Chattanooga staff.
In addition to the practical operations of the US warehouse, Amani Chattanooga has already become a place that engages its local community with the message of Christ’s peace. While the primary goal is to support the women in Africa well through market expansion, Amani Chattanooga also strives to reinvest in the local community by reaching out with skills training and jobs.
Sharing Amani’s vision of peace is one of the things the women at our Africa centers do best. Ultimately the US staff‘s desire is to carry on that legacy of extending peace and making an Amani center a place where customers, employees, neighbors, and volunteers find value, worth, forgiveness, and healing because of God’s peace, Peace from Above.
