Giving thanks with Amani Liberia
How do we give thanks?
While most people think of Thanksgiving as a North American holiday, it is also celebrated in Liberia. It was brought to Liberia by freed American slaves who resettled in West Africa in the 1800s. While their celebration takes place on a different day than in the US, the spirit is similar: people come together, share a feast, and take time to reflect on the many blessings in their lives. As we share this holiday across great distance, a few of the Amani Liberia ladies would like to share with us those things for which they are giving thanks this year.
