Lydia is originally from the Republic of Congo and came to Kenya in 2006 when the civil war broke out. She is in her late 20s, married, and the mother of three children ages 4,3 &1. Before she fled her country, she was enrolled in an institution of higher learning and was pursuing a degree in education.
Since her arrival in Kenya, she has tried her hand in various fields to make a living. She undertook a course in garment making, a skill she uses at the Amani Kenya and braids hair in her neighborhood. Lydia joined Amani ya Juu in March of 2012.
