Lamu Quilt

$ 360

Lamu is an island off the coast of Kenya which was inhabited by Arab traders hundreds of years ago. A key port of trade between Africa and the East, Lamu architecture, dress, religion and culture took on the characteristics of the Arab world. The maroon fabric in this quilt is known in Kenya as "Lamu cloth" - the intricate pattern is reminiscent of Arab decor and the fabric is soft and flowing. Interspersed with cream cotton and an Amani signature screenprint, the Lamu Quilt is both intriguing and timeless.

Handmade by the women of Amani Kenya. Read about our quilt making process here!
